Tacoma - Summer Camp - Climbing Rock Stars Week

Youth Program

Tacoma Mountaineers Summer Camp

Rock Stars Week. A fun-filled week of camp for kids who want to take their rock climbing skills to the next level!

Kids entering grades 1-7 (ages 6-12/13) join The Mountaineers for week-long adventure full of Mountaineers Activities! Kids will have a chance to try a variety of outdoor activities, which may include: climbing, hiking, navigation, outdoor cooking, first aid, shelter building, fire building or basic wilderness skills.  This week in particular will focus heavily on building rock climbing skills. Campers will belay, rappel, climb, learn about climbing knots and rope systems, and those who are ready may learn to lead climb. It is recommended that campers enrolling in this week have prior climbing experience and are comfortable on a climbing wall.

Each week will include fun games and activities, an earth stewardship component, and outdoor skills development, all led by skilled instructors. While each session allows for plenty of climbing time, we mix up other outdoor skills so that each session, campers get to learn something new! Camp is Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm. Field trip days may run longer - check with the specific week for more information.
