Honorary membership may be granted to individuals whose philosophy and deeds uphold the spirit, ideals, and purposes of The Mountaineers in an outstanding manner and who are likely to continue to uphold these principles.
Who are Honorary Members?
Our Board of Directors grants Honorary membership to individuals whose philosophy and deeds uphold the spirit, ideals, and purposes of The Mountaineers in an outstanding manner and who are likely to continue to uphold these principles. All of our Honorary Members have this badge in their profile and are celebrated on our Honorary Members page.
Becoming an Honorary Member...
The process for nominating and granting Honorary Membership, detailed in our Membership Policy, is:
- Nominees for honorary membership may be members or non-members at the time of their nomination.
- Any member may nominate a person for honorary membership by completing a petition that describes the person’s accomplishments, is signed by ten or more members, and submitted to the Executive Director.
- The Executive Director shall review petitions with the Executive Committee and determine whether or not a petition should be forwarded to the board.
- Honorary membership shall be conferred by majority vote of the board.
