CPR Course
Description of skills
The CPR course certification represents adult CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) with rescue breathing. CPR is suitable for relevant wilderness emergencies such as drowning, snow burial, hypothermia, lightning strike, etc., where emergency services are not available.
The course uses the standards defined by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). Within the United States the ILCOR standards are documented and advocated by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Fulfill the first aid requirement for some Mountaineers courses and leadership roles.
HOW DO I GET THIS BADGE?

Complete either our CPR course or a first aid course that includes Adult CPR with rescue breathing as a component.
The badge expires after two years, matching the expiration period of industry-standard CPR certifications.
equivalency
The Mountaineers CPR course badge may be granted to members who have a current CPR certification from classes outside the Mountaineers that satisfy the ILCOR/AHA standard. Examples include the American Heart Association "Heartsaver CPR" course or the American Red Cross "Adult CPR" course.
Mountaineers volunteers and staff are not medical professionals, and are not trained or authorized to evaluate medical skills. We are able to award the badge via equivalency based only on equivalent credentials.
