The badge for students enrolled in our Crag Climbing Course and is in the process of learning its skills.
DESCRIPTION OF SKILLS
The holder of this badge is enrolled in our Crag Climbing Course and is in the process of completing its requirements. To successfully complete this course, students must demonstrate proficiency in these skills:
- Rock climbing, leading and swinging leads on mid-5th class rock
- Constructing belay anchors using SRENE principles, including hanging belays
- Placing passive and active protection so it will hold a fall
- Constructing multidirectional anchors
- Using slings to manage rope drag and minimize movement of protection devices
- Rappelling using a device and a rappelling using a carabiner brake system, including self belay using an autoblock
- Mountaineering Oriented First Aid (Graduation from a MOFA course or equivalency)
- Route finding
- Reading topographical maps
- Training/conditioning techniques
- Social, environmental, and political issues related to cragging

- Participate in lectures, field trips and optional activities that are part of our Crag Climbing Course
- Participate in Crag Rock Climbs
