DESCRIPTION OF SKILLS
The holder of this badge has demonstrated sound judgment, strong leadership skills, and technical proficiency in:

Winter travel skills, including ice axe proficiency on steep slopes

Mountain safety, including identification of avalanche hazards, route selection, and group dynamics associated with decision making (AIARE Level 1)
- First aid (WFA or MOFA)

Winter emergency preparedness (including winter bivouacs and how to summon help should it be needed)
WHAT DOES THIS BADGE ALLOW ME TO DO?
This badge allows leaders to lead all levels of snowshoe trips and snowshoe course related activities, including intermediate activities.
HOW DO I GET THIS BADGE?
Sponsoring committees or branches must be satisfied that leaders of snowshoe trips have competence in the above skills as appropriate for the trips they are approved to lead.
Leaders must be approved to lead trips by the sponsoring committee. Please attend a New Snowshoe Leader seminar for information, or contact the branch snowshoeing committee.
