DESCRIPTION OF SKILLS
The holder of this badge has participated in Mountaineers (or equivalent) training and demonstrated sound judgment, strong leadership skills, and technical proficiency in the following:
- Group leadership
- Knowledge of natural history, geology, and ecology
- Technical hiking skills
- Navigation
- Mountain safety
- First aid and emergency preparedness
WHAT DOES THIS BADGE ALLOW ME TO DO?
This badge allows you to lead Naturalist Trips for The Mountaineers.
HOW DO I GET THIS BADGE?
To get this badge, you must participate as a leader in a mentored Naturalist activity and get approval from a branch committee sponsoring naturalist courses and activities. Contact the relevant committee for application information and requirements.
New Naturalist Leaders are strongly encouraged to get started by going on a minimum of three Naturalist activities with The Mountaineers.
