Please note, some designated Wilderness Areas within the Gifford Pinchot National Forest are subject to additional regulations, so these trips may require advance planning, particularly for overnight trips. Refer to the forest's Wilderness page for a list of these areas and specific information associated with them.
Cowlitz Valley RANGER DISTRICT
All course field trips to the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District fall under a Temporary Use Permit. Staff submits the permit application and reports our organization's usage annually. Please contact staff at info@mountaineers.org if you are planning a new course in the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District, or if you plan to significantly increase the size of a course or field trip you have offered in the past. This may require Mountaineers staff to submit additional information to the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District in order to adjust our permit. Please review the permit document linked below for an overview of the activities and locations allowed under our permit.
Mt. Adams Ranger District
